Intense Drag Day VII Today
April 30- Norwalk Raceway Park is proud to welcome back Scott Cook and the folks at Intense Drag Day VII, the premier racing event for GM front wheeled drive cars. Pre-registration for the event is ahead of last year, proving once again this event is the premier stop for the very specialized cars and their owners.
“We have a cult following,” promoter Scott Cook said Tuesday evening. “And we are expecting a record turnout and record ET’s.”
Intense was started around the GM 3800 front wheel drive platform on cars such as any late model Grand Prix. The business has recently expanded to include the four cylinder front wheel drives such as the new Cobalt SS.
Cook admits this is his busiest week of the year, but it is all well worth it. “Most of our customers are people who only race once or twice a year at their local track,” Cook said. “Most of these racers have never seen a track like Norwalk. And most of them have never experienced traction like Norwalk.”
Cook also maintains this is the reason racers from fifteen states make the yearly trek to Norwalk, add to that unlimited passes all day and over $10,000 in prizes and thirty six awards.
And there is a class for everyone. Cook’s Mom even gets into the action by running the Naturally Aspirated Class.
Gates open on Sunday at 8AM. Intense is on the track at 9AM until 2:00 with time trials. At 2:00, eliminations begin. The awards presentation will take place at 5:00PM. It is $70 to drag race and $20 for admission. Children 12 and under are free.
