John Boes Receives 'Clean Bill of Health'

February 23- Last night, an exuberant John Boes exclaimed, “I got a clean bill of health today.”  Boes received a very early detection of prostate cancer late last year, and underwent surgery on Valentines Day to remove the cancer.

Boes was his usual upbeat self, proudly remarking that three hours after surgery he was up “harassing nurses.”  The procedure took place at the Ohio State University Medical Center, and the doctor taking care of the 2005 Bar’s Leaks Top Champion had four of the same procedures in the same day.

“It was a silky smooth procedure,” Boes said.  “Luckily I had a doctor who has performed a lot of these, so it wasn’t his first time opening me up and saying, ‘Hmmm…”

Boes is forty-six years old, and now encourages all men over forty to have their prostate checked.  According to experts, every man is a candidate for prostate cancer, and they are beginning to check men as early as age thirty-five.  “It was not the most pleasant experience, but definitely worthwhile.”

The total time Boes spent in the hospital was twenty-three hours.  He has been given the green light to return to work on March 6th.  “I’m just happy to be healthy and ready to go racing again.”

Spoken like a true Champion.
