High School Nationals Repeat Winner
May 13, 2008
Wading through a field of 400 to 500 drag racers to get the win light on the final pass is never an easy thing to accomplish. The odds of doing that twice, as Josh Wirth did last weekend at the 20th Annual ACDelco High School Nationals presented by Amalie Motor Oil, are simply astronomical. Josh is a senior at Marlington High School in Alliance, Ohio, and has proven himself to be a skilled drag racer. Josh has not only won the High School race two years in a row here at Summit Motorsports Park, but was the 2007 champion at Magnolia Drag Strip in Magnolia, Ohio, and has made his presence known at Quaker City and at Dragway 42. For a younger man, Josh has certainly made a serious impression with his skills as a racer.
Josh supports his racing with an after-school job in the shipping department of Coastal Pet Products in Alliance. The Oldsmobile Cutlass that he drove to his second consecutive win last weekend belongs to his father, who has owned the car for four years. Josh has been a fixture behind the wheel of the Cutlass for the last three years. When he isn’t racing, he enjoys the exploits of his two favorite sports teams, the Cleveland Cavs, and the Indians. We asked Josh what his plans were after graduation this spring and he said “Racing! I’m going to be doing a lot of racing!” We want to congratulate Josh on his latest win at the 20th Annual ACDelco High School Nationals presented by Amalie Motor Oil, and wish him well in his future endeavors.
