Jessie Harris to Join Norwalk at Cleveland Auto-rama

Jessie Harris, the driver of Hanna Motorsport’s Bic Queen of Diamonds Jet Dragster will be on hand the entire weekend of the Cleveland Autorama March 17-19.  Harris will sign autographs, pose for pictures, and visit with fans.  The popular, personable Harris will be part of Norwalk Raceway Park’s display, and will compete at Norwalk at the Super Chevy Show in May and Night Under Fire July 1.

Jessie Harris, now 23, of Rome, NY, met with Hanna Motorsports personnel late in 2002.  She brought many traits to the first meeting – friendliness, interest in futures, intelligence, sincerity, a terrific appearance, a drive to succeed - traits that have remained at the forefront of her position as a very successful and high profile personality in the business/sport of professional exhibition jet dragster racing.  Since her training and debut, the Hanna Motorsports team has also recognized her incredible competitiveness, not to mention her loyalty and devotion to the team, and especially to her phenomenal fans.

As a youngster, Jessie spent much of her time competing in various high school sports activities including soccer, track, and volleyball.  To this day, many of the individual scoring and team records she set have yet to be approached.  She split her activities on the field with travel on weekends with her father and mother, Joe and Penny Veschusio, and their ‘Thriller’ blown altered.  Joe participated in a drag race circuit known as the ‘Supercharged Warriors,’ Jessie performed multitudes of jobs, eventually becoming the media coordinator and occasional announcer for the circuit.  Her love of competition combined with her desire to drive a race car made the call from Hanna Motorsports very timely.

Jessie debuted at an event known as ‘Jet Warz’ in Norwalk, Ohio early in ’03.  By the end of the night, having experienced her first side-by-side competition, her first night driving, and her first performance in front of a crowd, Jessie was crowned IHRA World Champion winning the final round with a phenomenal 5.16 seconds at 304 MPH.

To date, Jessie’s spectacular on track performances continue.  She has a best et of 5.07 at an IHRA Night of Fire Saturday evening appearance in Grand Bend, Canada, with a best MPH to date of 309 MPH.  She meets all challengers mano-a-mano – a very successful woman in traditionally a man’s world.  Yes, she may lose a round or a race from time to time (not yet), but overall, there is no question Jessie will remain at the head of the pack – both on and off the track.  Event wins and track records are a commonplace occurrence for this fierce competitor.
